Today’s prompt is to write a poem in which you take your title or some language/ideas from The Strangest Things in the World.

The Strange Ways of Spiders
by ARHuelsenbeck

Spiders are not of this world.
They have way too many legs and eyes.
They weave sticky nets to capture their prey.
They belong to some other planet where conditions are
more monstrous, more ruthless, more insane, more atrocious, more murderous.
They are far better armed and equipped for their lives
than we.
What practical expertise can we learn from them?
After sex, eat your mate.
One day, spiders will rule the earth.
Unless climate change or insect spray eliminates them first.

Disclaimer: This is just a poem. The poet recognizes that spiders are beneficial to the earth and harbors no ill will toward them.
