Baby Humor, Twin Style

I so enjoy watching my twin granddaughters. They recently celebrated their first birthday, and as they sat in their high chairs, a cupcake appeared in front of each of them. I had to leave the party just before this moment, but someone filmed 29 seconds of cupcake joy. Robin launched into her cupcake mouth-first, and the guests burst into laughter and vocal affirmations. Robin and Etta looked at each other momentarily, as though telepathically communicating well, that was interesting, and then they looked away. Etta tentatively poked her finger into her cupcake’s icing, and someone clapped. Etta looked up and smiled, clearly delighted with the applause.

It’s heartwarming to see their personalities and their senses of humor emerging.

A few weeks later my daughter filmed 32 seconds of them playing together with a bottle of milk. One started drinking from it and the other grabbed it away and drank from it herself. They exchanged the bottle several times, laughing hysterically. Greg and I have watched that video over and over. There was no aggression on the girls’ parts, only the sense that what they were doing was very funny.

I told my daughter that I wanted to put the video on YouTube, because I was sure it would go viral. (Who doesn’t love videos of babies laughing?) But she asked me not to. She would like to guard the babies’ privacy. I get that. So I hope my description helps you imagine how cute and funny they are.
